Question 1

How accurate is TheComponentArchive at identifying a part?

Accepted Answer

TheComponentArchive returns ranked candidates with match reasoning, revision context, and the evidence behind each suggestion. Treat the result as a research shortcut, then verify dimensions, interfaces, ratings, and fitment before ordering. Scan now in your workspace.

Question 2

Can I upload a manual or other documentation instead of scanning?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Start with a photo, PDF, nameplate, drawing, service manual, or even a partial part name. TheComponentArchive keeps manual search private to your workspace so you can pull context from the documents you already have. Sign in to upload evidence.

Question 3

Should I scan the part or start with documentation?

Accepted Answer

Either can start the trace: use a scan or photo when the physical clue is available, or begin with a drawing, manual, nameplate, or partial number. Combining both gives the identification more context across automotive, RC, plant, facility, and engineering workflows. Scan now to begin.

Question 4

Can TheComponentArchive remind me when a watched part changes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Save parts to a watchlist and keep an eye on availability, price changes, replacement dates, and sourcing risk. Digest reminders help teams revisit a part before a repair, build, or shutdown window becomes urgent. Sign in to open your watchlist.

Question 5

What can I export from a project BOM?

Accepted Answer

A project BOM captures the parts, tools, fasteners, and connectors around a build or repair, along with the identification context that led you there. Download a PDF snapshot when you need to share the workbench plan or carry it into a purchasing or maintenance workflow. Sign in to view your BOM.

Question 6

How does TheComponentArchive's partner API work?

Accepted Answer

Approved partners use a documented bearer key to POST part-candidate submissions to /api/partners/part-candidates. Submissions are queued for review and enrichment without exposing credentials in the request or in the resulting candidate workflow. Contact the team to request partner access.

Question 7

What are the current pricing and billing options?

Accepted Answer

Hobbyist is free. Pro is available monthly or annually through hosted checkout, and Enterprise is custom-priced for plant maintenance, facility operations, reliability, and engineering teams. Prices are in USD; taxes may apply, and Enterprise scope is tailored to the operation. Contact the team to discuss the right plan.
